About Kathleen
My start in photography began with capturing wildlife images. I have had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States, Africa, South America and Central America.
After having children of my own, I found my camera lens firmly focused on my family. Turns out, kids are fascinating. They are tiny, opinionated, determined, agenda driven beings as soon as they are born. Aren't they great? I found I wanted to capture as many milestones, accomplishments, tantrums, and moments of sheer joy as I could (as any parent would!) and love capturing these moments for other families.
My favorite place to take photographs is outside, in natural settings, using natural lighting. I find clients, children and adults included, tend to relax when they are outside. Children in particular begin to become unaware of the camera, and do what they would do naturally. They play, run, laugh, dance, pick flowers, find bugs. Parents smile and enjoy. And that is exactly the kind of images we all want to capture and remember of our families.
So, my photography career has changed a bit over the years. Although I still spend some time in the field chasing birds, I love spending time with families capturing and preserving their own special memories.
